Lunn comments on Ruane statement and is concerned about ‘glaring inequality’

Alliance Education Spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has broadly welcomed Education Minister Caitríona Ruane’s statement on area planning, but said it did not provide enough detail and it also raised concerns regarding inequality.

Trevor Lunn MLA stated: “I broadly welcome this statement. Even though it did not provide real meat on the bones of her post-11 plus plans, it is a step in the right direction.

“It recognises the absolute necessity for schools to co-operate on all levels on a cross-sectoral basis.

“We do, however, have real concerns about the position of the transferors, who yet again appear to have been sidelined.

“I would urge the Minister to admit this glaring inequality and give the Protestant clergy the opportunity to continue their input, as of right, in this important debate.”
