Belfast Lord Mayor, Alliance councillor Tom Ekin, has condemned the latest racist attack upon a family in Fane Street.
Tom Ekin stated:
“Every right thinking citizen of Belfast will be appalled by this attack. I want Belfast to be a multicultural place where people from all backgrounds can be comfortable.
“I know that most other people share this vision too, in particular in the immediate area of the attack too. Most know that this type of behaviour is of no benefit whatsoever to anyone.
“Shortly, Northern Ireland will have Hate Crime laws on the books that will provide stiffer sentences for racially-motivated crime.
“The challenge is now for the community to work with the police to catch those responsible for placing this family under regular attack.”
