Belfast Lord Mayor, Alliance Councillor Tom Ekin, has condemned the racist attack this morning upon a household of three Nigerians.
Tom Ekin stated:
“This attack comes on the back of another one yesterday. It is the 90th reported racist attack this year. This situation is totally intolerable.
“Someone in this area is organising the preying upon this vulnerable group. While the police need to do more to pursue the perpetrators, I would call on local residents to be vigilant – look out to protect your neighbours of ethnic minorities, just as you would for older people.
“However, if people are prepared to turn a blind eye, then perhaps it is time to consider a system whose eyes are never shut – CCTV.”
