Long urges former S and R Electric employees to avail of Employment Service support

Naomi Long has encouraged the former employees of S and R Electric Ltd, also known as Sam’s Yer Man, to seek help from the Employment Service’s Redundancy Advice Service. It was announced on Wednesday that their two shops in East Belfast and Newtownards would close, with a loss of 20 jobs.

Alliance East Belfast Westminster candidate Naomi Long said: “One of my main concerns following Wednesday’s announcement was about the employees and ensuring that we could help them get back into employment.

“I have spoken to the Employment and Learning Minister and he has advised me that there are services that are available to these individuals. I would encourage them to get in contact with their local Jobs and Benefits office to access the Employment Service’s Redundancy Advice Service. Staff are ready and eager to assist those who lost their job at the well known local business.

“They can provide specifically tailored advice on the options that are available to the former employees around regaining employment, education routes and training.”
