Last month the Council published its annual expenses, again proving Alliance Councillors are the best value for money. Yet the information almost remained hidden from the public with it being very difficult to local on the Council’s website – an issue resolved by Councillor Michael Long.
Councillor Michael Long said: “As Councillors it is important that we provide value for money and that the public are aware of the annual expenses. Yet Castlereagh Borough Council seemed to go out of its way to make it difficult for people to locate this year’s information.
“While I am disappointed I had to again raise the issue, I am pleased the Council has at my suggestion agreed to move the information to a more promising position on the website.
“Castlereagh Council seems determined that its lasting legacy will be one of politics behind closed doors, but this is not acceptable to the Alliance Party and we will continue to ensure total transparency in all Council decisions.”
