Alliance East Belfast MP Naomi Long has condemned those behind a security alert in Parkgate Avenue in East Belfast after a suspicious object was discovered which was later declared an elaborate hoax by Police.
Naomi Long MP said: “There can be no justification for those intent on continuing down the path of fear and intimidation.
“This latest alert has caused unnecessary disruption for many in the surrounding area, and tied up valuable police resources. I want to praise those who provided help and assistance for those forced from their homes.
“As we seek to move forward and find our way towards a shared future for everyone in Northern Ireland, we must stand together in condemnation of those determined to drag our society back to the dark days of the past.
“I would urge anyone with information on those behind this incident to contact the Police as soon as possible.”
