Lo says DRD have made right decision to reinstate South Belfast crash barrier

Alliance South Belfast MLA, Anna Lo MLA, has welcomed the decision by the Department for Regional Development to replace a crash barrier on the Malone Road that has been removed last year. Three weeks after it was removed, student Enda Dolan was killed in a road accident at the location of the barrier.

Anna Lo MLA said: “I am very pleased that the Department for Regional Development have decided to reinstate this crash barrier. It is a very busy area with thousands of students walking up and down the road on a daily basis.

“Questions still remain as to why this barrier was removed with the Department seemingly unaware as to why it was originally built at this location.

“My thoughts are with Enda Dolan’s family. I hope this decision will prevent any more lives being lost at this accident black spot.”
