Lo helps launch National Trust “Great NI Walk” campaign

Alliance Environment spokesperson Anna Lo MLA has helped launch the National Trust’s “Great NI Walk” campaign. The National Trust is hoping to use this campaign to encourage people to discover the great outdoors as well keeping fit at the same time. The festival will take place between 1stSeptember and 4th November, with a series of organised walks in many of the places owned by the National Trust.

Anna Lo MLA said: “I am delighted to help launch the Great NI Walk campaign. It is a great festival to discover the outdoors in some of our most beautiful locations throughout Northern Ireland. I hope it will encourage more people to get outside and stay healthy.

“There is such a wide variety of activities in this festival from either a simple stroll in some of the forest parks to the more challenging walks such as at Slieve Donard. Either way, I hope that people have a good time while at the same time keeping fit.

“I think we often forget how lucky we are to have places like the Giant’s Causeway, Mount Stewart, Downhill, Minnowburn or Portstewart Strand. I hope people will use the Great NI Walk events to rediscover some of these magnificent locations.

“The National Trust have put a lot of effort into the festival and have renovated some of the areas that they own, such as the Giant’s Ring in Shaw’s Bridge. They look after some of our most beautiful and important locations and it is tribute to their hard working staff that these places are one of Northern Ireland’s best assets.”
