Lawther sickened by sectarian attack in Templepatrick

Alliance Antrim Councillor Alan Lawther has condemned the sectarian attack on a 16 year old boy that took place in the car park of a hotel on the Antrim Road in Templepatrick at 1am on Tuesday. The police are treating the assault as a sectarian hate crime. The teenager sustained a fractured cheekbone and had two teeth knocked out by the gang of four men who attacked him.

Cllr Alan Lawther said: “I am sickened by this sectarian attack. There should be no place in our society for such an incident.

“This was a vicious assault carried out by callous individuals who have no regards for the well-being of others.

“My thoughts are with this teenager following what must have been an horrific incident. I hope he will be able to make a swift recovery from his injuries.

“If anybody has any information about this assault, then I would urge them to contact the police.”
