Kelly welcomes news that Rosedale care home will be kept open

Alliance Antrim Councillor Neil Kelly has welcomed the news that Rosedale Care Home in Antrim, along with Westlands in Cookstown, Thackeray in Limavady and Pinewood in Ballymena, have been saved from closure by the Health Minister. He has informed residents that they would not be moved while they wanted to stay there.

Cllr Neil Kelly said: “This is fantastic news that these care homes have been saved from closure. I visited Rosedale shortly after the announcement was made to pass on my good wishes to all the staff and residents following this great news.

“This has been a very distressing period for residents and their families with the possibility of these care homes being closed.

“The announcement last year that all the care homes in the Northern Trust would be closed was an irrational decision, so I am glad that they have performed a u-turn. There is still a need for the Trust to provide a residential care home service. I hope there will also be good news for the other care homes under threat.”
