Hendron: Somebody could have been killed by East Belfast pipe bomb

Alliance Belfast Councillor Maire Hendron has condemned those responsible for a pipe bomb which was discovered in the Templemore Avenue area of East Belfast on Tuesday. Police and Army technical officers carried out a controlled explosion on the device.

Cllr Maire Hendron said: “Somebody could have been seriously injured or killed had this pipe bomb exploded. There can be no justification for leaving this device in a residential area, where a child could have picked it up.

“The vast majority of people in Northern Ireland are opposed to the actions of those behind this pipe bomb.

“Those responsible for this pipe bomb are very dangerous individuals who must be urgently apprehended by the Police, so I would urge anybody with any information about this device to contact the PSNI.”
