The man in his 40s died following a motorcycle accident in east Belfast on Thursday.
Councillor Maire Hendron said: “It is always sad when someone loses their life on the road. I would like to extend my sympathies to the friends and family of the man involved.
“It only takes a split second for tragedy to occur on our roads and I would urge all road users to ensure they drive carefully and safely.
“We all must take precautions to ensure no more lives are unnecessarily lost on our roads.”
