Ford pays tribute to Alderman Tony Hill who passed away this morning

Alliance Alderman in North Down, Tony Hill, passed away this morning and Party Leader David Ford and the Alliance Team in North Down have paid tribute to him. He served as a Councillor for Bangor West since 2001, was Mayor of the Borough between 2009 and 2010, and became an Alderman in 2011.

David Ford said: “Tony was a real gentleman and a very friendly and popular person. Everyone in Alliance is deeply saddened at his loss and my heart goes out to his family and friends at this time of sorrow. He was an excellent councillor for all the people of North Down and had an extremely successful term as Mayor.

“Tony gave his all for the whole community in North Down and was a well-respected and highly committed Alliance activist and Councillor. He was a man of true integrity whose dedication to public service deserves commendation and recognition.”

Speaking for all of the Alliance Team in North Down, Cllr Anne Wilson said: “Tony was a hard working councillor who served everyone in the community. He will very sorely missed and he was at the heart of the Alliance team in North Down.

“We feel that a great friend and a brilliant team member has been lost. Tony lived for his family and to help the community, and our thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time. He helped play an integral role in delivering a shared future and helped move Northern Ireland forward to a brighter future.”
