Flags Commission must make up for lost time – Bradshaw

Welcoming the announcement of appointments to the Commission on Flags, Identity, Culture and Tradition, South Belfast Alliance Assembly member Paula Bradshaw has said it is important work is allowed to proceed without further delay.

The MLA, who is bringing forward a private member’s bill on the display of flags, said: “It is disappointing that we have had to wait so long for these appointments to be made, but it is welcome that the Commission is now in place.

“It is essential that work proceed without further delay. With the parading season almost upon us, I would hope that the Commission can meet quickly.

“It is also essential that the public engage with the Commission to ensure outcomes that are fair to all and reflective of the diverse traditions across Northern Ireland.”
