Dr Stephen Farry MLA stated: “This was a very sinister attack. It was a brutal shooting that harks back to the terrible days of the troubles. It is despicable to think that someone can bring themselves to attack a person in such a barbaric way.
“It is also disgusting that a police officer trying to investigate this incident was hurt. The police should be allowed to get on with their job without fear of attack. Police officers’ jobs are difficult enough without incidents of this nature.”
“I would appeal to anyone with information on any of these incidents to contact police immediately to assist them.”
