Economy woes underline why Executive needs green strategy – Neeson

Alliance Enterprise Spokesperson Seán Neeson MLA has said he is extremely disappointed at news that Northern Ireland was the only region of the UK where business activity fell last month. He said that this highlights the urgent need for the Stormont Executive to produce a sustainable economic recovery policy. The Ulster Bank Purchasing Managers Index showed that there was no upturn last month.

Seán Neeson MLA said: “It is deeply disappointing that Northern Ireland is the only region is the UK that did not experience an economic upturn last month. This demonstrates that Northern Ireland needs a strong, radical green strategy from the Stormont Executive to boost growth.

“Alliance has proposed a sustainable recovery strategy prioritising green initiatives, which aims to help our construction sector and put Northern Ireland at the forefront on producing renewable technology. The Executive must follow our lead to help bolster the economy.

“We also need to see the Executive advancing more capital projects as doing so would significantly assist our construction industry at this difficult time.”
