Dunlop shocked by racist attack in Ballymena

Alliance Ballymena Councillor Jayne Dunlop has expressed her shock after an arson attack on a flat in Ballymena is being treated as a hate crime by police. A fire was started at the flat on Galgorm Road on Sunday and graffiti was also painted.

Cllr Jayne Dunlop said: “I was shocked by this racist attack. Racism has no part in our society. I know that the vast majority of the public are appalled by this attack.

“I would like to offer my support to the person who was targeted in this attack. Northern Ireland has been extremely welcoming to thousands of people who have emigrated to our country and I hope that nobody is put off by the news of this attack.

“If anybody has any information about this hate crime then I would urge them to contact the police. The people who carried out this attack are offering nothing to our community and should be apprehended by the police urgently.”
