Dixon welcomes investment in Craigavon further education college

Alliance Craigavon Councillor Conrad Dixon has welcomed the investment by the Minister for Employment and Learning in a new further education campus in Craigavon. £22.5million will be invested as part of the economic package, ‘Building a Prosperous and United Community’. The new college will replace existing facilities in Lurgan and Portadown. Construction is expected to commence in 2015/16.

Cllr Conrad Dixon said: “This is fantastic news that the Minister for Employment and Learning is investing so much in improving the skills and training of local people in the Craigavon area. Skills are recognised as the cornerstone of economic prosperity, so I am glad to see the Minister continue to invest in our future.

“This new single shared campus will serve students, schools, employers and the local community, and will be a most welcome development in the area.

“The investment of £22.5million will also be a big boost to the local construction sector.”
