Cllr Stewart Dickson said: “I very strongly welcome this progress in the creation of this route. The project will benefit people and business alike in the East Antrim area, and further afield. I hope everyone comes together and reaches agreement on this to ensure the completion of this exciting scheme.
“Our local MLA Séan Neeson has done much work on this and all this effort must be allowed to come to fruition.
“It would be great to see the Minister being able to deliver this as many people are crying out for this new dual carriageway. The Minister has already pulled the plug on the A2 scheme, so there simply has to be delivery on the A8 dual carriageway.”
