Dickson encourages applications for boiler replacement scheme

Alliance Social Development spokesperson, Stewart Dickson MLA, has welcomed the decision to extend the Boiler Investment Scheme following £2million of investment by the Department for Social Development. The scheme, which helps people upgrade their existing boiler, was due to end on 31st March, but will not continue for another year.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “Replacing old and inefficient boilers will help improve energy efficiency and reduce home heating costs for homeowners.

“We are all aware of the problems of Fuel Poverty which affects so many people across Northern Ireland, but if their boilers aren’t efficient then they are literally wasting huge amounts of the energy that they are paying for.

“Having a modern, high efficiency, boiler can go a long way to improving the heating of homes and make sure that purchased gas or oil goes a lot further than it otherwise would..

“I am pleased that this scheme will remain open for another year and would encourage everybody who has not already availed of the scheme to apply now.”
