Dickson condemns Londonderry pipe bombs

Alliance Justice spokesperson Stewart Dickson has condemned those behind two pipe bombs which exploded in Londonderry overnight, now being treated as hate crimes.

Nine people escaped injury when the devices exploded outside homes in Lapwing Way and Lincoln Court.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “This was a disgraceful attack which appears to have been racially motivated and must be condemned.

“The lives of nine people and their surrounding neighbours were put at risk by those determined to cause injury and destruction. We must be thankful that no-one was seriously injured.

“The people behind these attacks have shown no regards for the consequences of their actions and must be removed from the streets. I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.

“There is no place for violence in our society and everyone must be allowed to feel safe and secure in their homes. I hope those targeted will receive the relevant support to enable them to recover from this terrifying ordeal.”
