Stewart Dickson MLA said: “This is an appalling crime carried out by vicious thugs who have no place in our society.
“The people responsible for this shooting are hurting the city and putting it in the news for all the wrong reasons. These people must be apprehended by the police, but they will need help from the public, so I would urge anybody with any information to contact the police.
“I hope the victim of this barbaric shooting will be able to recover from his injuries and he is in my thoughts.”
