Cllr Stewart Dickson, who is Chair of the local District Policing Partnership said: “This was a deeply troubling incident and my thoughts are with the injured man as he recovers from this attack. Incidents of this nature are absolutely unacceptable and people want a society free from violence and intimidation.
“The community will be shocked at this horrific attack and it must have been a deeply traumatic ordeal for the victim.
“I would appeal to anyone who can assist police with their investigation to contact them.”
