The MLA for East Antrim was speaking after a car was set alight and shots were fired at a home in Brustin Braw Road, Larne, where three children aged 10, seven and three were asleep.
“It is extremely worrying to hear this news today and we must be thankful that this incident did not end in a complete tragedy for this young family,” he said.
“With on-going tensions in the area, we must do everything we can to ensure local people can feel safe in their own home.
“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible, so that those responsible can be removed from our streets as soon as possible.”
