Cllr Catherine Curran said: “I am shocked that such a vicious attack was carried out in Belfast city centre. This man could easily have been killed. It shows the disregard for life that his attacker has.
“I hope that this victim will make a quick recovery from his injuries.
“If anybody has any information about this attack then I would urge them to contact the police.”
