Cochrane saddened by death of Ulster rugby star and his father and brother

Alliance MLA Judith Cochrane, who is vice chair of the Assembly all party group on rugby, has expressed her condolences following the death of Ulster rugby star Nevin Spence and his father and brother following a farming accident in Saturday night. The three men died after they fell into a slurry tank, their sister also fell but was later rescued.

Judith Cochrane MLA said: “I am very saddened to hear of this tragic accident. My thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends. I cannot begin to imagine what their family are going through at this difficult time.

“Nevin had a very bright future ahead of him as both an Ulster player and an Irish international. I know he will be greatly missed by the sport.

“I hope that his sister will be able to make a full recovery. Their family are in the thoughts of everybody in Northern Ireland and many from further afield.”
