Established in 2002, the NIABT is an independent and politically neutral organisation offering local politicians and businesses a platform to come together to share their knowledge and experience. Their mission statement is: ‘To advance and encourage business understanding of the Assembly and Assembly Members’ understanding of business’.
Through regular events including seminars, visits and placements, this information sharing helps businesses develop a greater understanding of the political process, while at the same time providing politicians with enhanced insights into the business sector.
In addition to the formalities of the AGM, there was also a panel discussion examining the “Corporation Tax, Where do we go from here?”, with panel contributions from Daithi McKay MLA, Chairperson of the Committee for Finance and Personnel, Roger Pollen, Head of External Affairs at the Federation of Small Businesses and John Compton, Head of Corporate Affairs at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
