McCudden expects best May Fair yet

Alliance Councillor Pat McCudden is urging all Ballyclare residents to come out and support the Ballyclare May Fair, as the event aims for its most successful year yet.

Councillor McCudden – who is chairing this year’s event – was speaking ahead of the traditional May Fair Day, Tuesday May 21, and said this year’s programme of events offered something for everyone.

Councillor Pat McCudden said: “The Ballyclare May Fair is a great opportunity for the whole community to get together and enjoy the events on offer. The Fair also attracts a number of visitors and is a fantastic chance for Ballyclare to put all it has to offer on display.

“The fair has already got off to a great start, with the Bonny Baby Competition and the crowning of 18-year-old Ballyclare student Claudia Kirk as this year’s May Fair Queen. But there is much more still to come.

“Tuesday is the traditional May Fair Day and I hope to see the town centre buzzing with activity, with a family fun day, a petting zoo and the annual horse fair all taking place. Other highlights across the week include a comedy night in the town hall, a pet show and the annual Mayor’s Parade.

“I want to encourage as many people as possible to get involved this year and enjoy all the May Fair has to offer. The event has grown successfully in recent years and I hope this can continue for many years to come.”
