Clarke shocked at Ballynahinch murder

Down District Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke has described the murder of a 47-year-old man in Ballynahinch as a tragic loss of human life.

David Mills, from Seaforde, was stabbed in the Dromore Street area of Ballynahinch in the early hours of Sunday morning. A 30-year-old man has been arrested.

Councillor Clarke described David Mills as a larger than life character who was well liked in the local community.

Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke said: “I am truly shocked to learn of the tragic death and murder of David Mills from Seaforde, who was an outstanding sportsman and painter by profession.

“It is all the harder to take in the murder of David Mills when you knew him.

“David was a larger than life character and well liked in the local community and sporting circles. Such was David’s love for sport he enjoyed all types, including cricket, football, golf, darts and pool.

“You do not expect to learn of the death of such a decent genuine person whose life has been so suddenly cut short.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mills family and I wish to offer my sincere condolences to his family circle at this awful and heart breaking time.”
