Clarke condemns Clough shooting

Alliance Down District Councillor Patrick Clarke has condemned a shooting incident in the County Down village of Clough. Two parked cars were damaged in the Claragh Court area after shots were fired in the early hours of Friday morning. The windscreens were smashed.

No-one was injured in the attack which police believe had a sectarian motive.

Cllr Patrick Clarke said: “There can be no place in our society for such acts of cowardly criminal activity involving shots being fired in the middle of the night.

“Whilst I am grateful that nobody was injured, one begins to wonder the actual mindset of such sickening people who would carry out such an attack.

“I wish to condemn this shooting in the strongest of terms and would urge anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact the PSNI on the non-emergency number 101.”
