Strangford MLA, Kieran McCarthy said: “These figures make shocking reading. It is appalling that there has been an increase in drink driving during this Christmas period.
“The figures do however show that the Police ran a strong and effective campaign to crack down on this problem.
“This dangerous and shameful behaviour among some people in our society must be eradicated, and I am glad that Police are letting people know that drink drivers have no place to hide. People drink driving will lose their license and possibly their job.”
