Brexit will have negative impacts on Craigavon – Doyle

Alliance Upper Bann candidate Tara Doyle has said the negative effects of Brexit could threaten jobs in Craigavon.
Tara Doyle said: “The news from Almac that they have bought a factory in Dundalk and are considering moving some work there is worrying. They currently have a significant number of highly skilled workers in Craigavon, and plans to move production of some drugs will cause uncertainty amongst the workforce.
“It is understandable that Almac needs to protect its business from the effects of Brexit, but I would urge them to provide reassurances about job security to their loyal workforce in Craigavon.
“Since the Referendum, Alliance has repeatedly said Brexit will be bad for the UK as whole, but particularly damaging to Northern Ireland.
“Beyond the disproportionate damage to our economy, society and the Good Friday Agreement, there are too many features of Northern Ireland particular to it, including the land border with the continuing EU, an integrated all-island economy and the right of people here to access an Irish passport and therefore European citizenship.”
