Bradshaw disappointed by South Belfast job losses

Alliance South Belfast Councillor Paula Bradshaw has expressed disappointment the area could lose around 80 jobs, after a stock exchange operator revealed it would be relocating its IT services to Portugal.

Euronext, which is based in Adelaide Street, said it would be making the move in order “to be closer” to its core markets.

“This is extremely disappointing news, with the knock-on effects of such a potential loss of employments having devastating consequences for the wider area,” she said.

“The IT sector is a burgeoning one, so this news is deeply concerning. It is especially disappointing, given Euronext had originally intended this to be a centre of excellence.
“We must do what we can to lessen the impact on the affected employees and I will be discussing the issue with my Belfast City Council colleagues to ensure that is the case.”
