At the March full Council meeting, the South Belfast representative proposed a motion calling for all Declarations of Interest to be published on Belfast City Council’s website.
Councillor Paula Bradshaw said: “Openness and transparency is essential in local government and if this motion becomes a reality it will be another step forward in the Alliance Party’s campaign to end back room dealings and secrecy in politics for good.
“With Declarations of Interests already available for view in hard copy in City Hall, this simple move will allow the service to be more readily available online, ensuring greater access for all.
“While other parties have often attempted to block the Alliance Party’s campaign for greater openness and transparency, I’m delighted to propose this motion and hope it will receive full support both at the committee and when it returns to full Council.”
