Blair condemns those behind letter bomb addressed to Chief Constable

Alliance Newtownabbey Councillor John Blair has condemned those behind a letter bomb that was discovered in Mallusk sorting office. The letter, which was addressed to the Chief Constable, was made safe by Army Technical Officers.

Cllr John Blair: “This letter bomb could have killed or caused serious injury had it exploded. Those responsible have no regard for the consequences of their actions.

“The Chief Constable and his officers are working to serve the entire community and maintain the rule of law throughout Northern Ireland. The vast majority of the public are opposed to the actions of those behind this device.

“There is no place in our society for this type of action. The public do not want to see a return to the dark days of the Troubles, but rather they want to help move forward in building a new society for everyone.

“If anybody has any information about this letter bomb then I would urge them to contact the Police. The people responsible must be urgently taken off our streets to face justice in the courts.

“I also condemn those responsible for a pipe bomb that was found on Carlisle Parade in North Belfast.”
