Endorsed by well-known MLA Kieran McCarthy, Kellie said she was looking forward to spreading the Alliance message of a shared future across the Strangford constituency.
Kellie Armstrong said: “I’m honoured and proud to have been selected to stand for Westminster by my Alliance colleagues in Strangford and I’m looking forward to working hard to representing everyone from Portaferry to Scrabo and Moneyreagh to Ballynahinch.
“Alliance is the only party offering a clear alternative to the tribal politics of the past and I believe it is important to offer the electorate the opportunity to endorse a non-sectarian party, committed to the idea of a shared and inclusive society.
“My dedication to Strangford is evident in the hard work I have undertaken since becoming a Councillor, from improving access to local transport to lobbying for better flood provisions and I am excited by the opportunities Westminster would enable Alliance to deliver locally.
“It is important we have representation in Westminster to take the fight to where the major financial decisions are taken. I look forward to working in Partnership with our MP Naomi Long whose constituency borders Strangford.”
