Armstrong expresses sympathies after road death

Alliance Strangford MLA Kellie Armstrong has expressed her sympathies after a man died in a single vehicle crash in Ballywalter.

The man, who was in his 70s, died after the crash at Roddens Road around 7.45am. It follows the death of a 46-year-old woman who crashed on the Portaferry Road on the shores of Strangford Lough on Saturday.

“My thoughts and sympathies are with the loved ones of the man and woman who died in these crashes,” said Ms Armstrong.

“Unfortunately, this is now two deaths on the roads of the Ards Peninsula in just a few days. Everyone in the community is shocked and sadden by these events. While we wait for the PSNI to conclude their investigations into the circumstances around these tragedies, I ask everyone to take action to improve road safety. We may never know what caused these crashes but we can all make a few changes to improve our safety and the safety of other road users.

“I would urge anyone with information on these incidents or who was witness to them to speak to police immediately.”
