Alliance Youth Chair James McClure said: “Alliance Youth’s ‘Employability, For Everyone’ conference was a tremendous success. I would like to express my gratitude to all those involved and I would like to thank Minister Farry for coming along and offering an insight into what his Department is doing to tackle youth unemployment.
“A lot of young people have found it difficult to gain employment in recent years, with those aged 16 to 24 years old comprising a large percentage of jobseekers claimants. Youth unemployment is a major challenge for our Executive, so I am pleased that the Employment and Learning Minister is giving this issue serious priority.
“We discussed several different aspects of youth unemployment and provided advice and information to those seeking employment.
“I look forward to future Alliance Youth events on this issue and I hope we can play a part in tackling this problem.”
