The Party has a history of strong youth politics and the new committee has already started planning how it can best address the needs of young people in Northern Ireland.
Newly elected Chair James McClure said: “This is a really exciting time for Alliance Youth. The Party has always believed in youth participation at every level and I would call on all young people across Northern Ireland to join Alliance and help lead change for all.
“We intend to highlight issues that are important to young people and help build a shared future for all free from sectarianism and division. In the coming months we will unveil our campaign plans and how we feel we can best serve the youth of today.”
Newly elected Vice Chair Kathleen Ireton added: “For 40 years the Alliance Party has demonstrated clear leadership, standing for fairness, openness, honesty, equality and diversity.
“Alliance Youth will continue to be advocates for the Party, highlighting to young people across Northern Ireland exactly what Alliance has and can achieve for them.”
The new committee members are: Chair James McClure, Vice Chair Kathleen Ireton, Secretary Michael Palmer, Treasurer Stephen Donnan, Media Officer Mathew Hunt, Membership Secretary Susanne Bradley and Campaigns Officer Gary Spedding.
