Alliance welcomes new order for Wrightbus

Alliance representatives have welcomed a jobs boost for the Antrim and Ballymena areas, after Wrightbus secured a major new contract.

Alliance Leader David Ford, Antrim Councillor Neil Kelly and Ballymena Councillor Jayne Dunlop welcomed the order, which will see Wrightbus provide 425 vehicles to the UK Firm FirstGroup.

Alliance Leader David Ford said: “This is a fantastic announcement for Wrightbus and Northern Ireland. The global recognition of this local company is continuing to grow, proving Northern Ireland can be key players on the world stage.”

Councillor Neil Kelly said: “Not only will this be a welcome boost for the area, but proves the company’s commitment to developing new technologies and styles and ensuring it remains at the top of its industry. Wrightbus has demonstrated a clear commitment to protecting the environment and I am delighted the company’s efforts have led to vehicles that qualify for Low Carbon Emission status.”

Councillor Jayne Dunlop added: “This is tremendous news for the local economy. Wrightbus is a major employer across both Antrim and Ballymena and this latest order will have been met with delight across these areas. The order proves Wrightbus is growing from strength to strength, securing jobs further for the future.”
