Alliance selects Sheila McQuaid and Harry Hamilton for Upper Bann


Cllr Sheila McQuaid and Harry Hamilton have been selected to run for the Alliance Party in the forthcoming Assembly election in Upper Bann .

Banbridge Councillor Sheila McQuaid said: “I am very pleased to have been chosen by Alliance to stand in the forthcoming election. Alliance is the only party that makes tackling the costly and damaging problem of segregation their top priority.

“We have a very strong team in Upper Bann and my colleague Harry is an extremely popular representative, as his vote in the Westminster election demonstrates.”

Harry Hamilton said: “I am very to be proud to have been selected to run alongside Sheila McQuaid in Upper Bann . Sheila is very highly regarded in both Banbridge and across the wider area.

” Alliance is leading change to transform our society into a shared, more prosperous and more environmentally-friendly community.”

Biography for Sheila McQuaid

Sheila McQuaid is married to former Banbridge Councillor Frank McQuaid and she became Councillor for the Banbridge area last year.

Sheila has had many years of community experience and has sat on a number community committees and boards. She is a former parent governor of Bridge Primary School and served as Secretary to the Banbridge Academy Association. She was a Director of Community Network Craigavon and she also worked for 10 years in Lurgan.

Sheila was Community Coordinator at the Bannside Development Centre on the interface in Portdown and was the Executive Director of the Schools for Social Entrepreneurs in Ireland for two years. She was also a Director of TASK Healthy Living Centre in Banbridge.

Biography for Harry Hamilton

Harry Hamilton was born in Lurgan, in Upper Bann , where he has lived all his life and is married with 3 daughters. Harry is currently a Business Development Manager with extensive experience in selling to, and providing services to, the food service and retail sector within Northern Ireland .

In addition to this, over the last 18 years he has created a successful entertainment production business, selling out shows all over Ireland .

Harry was the UUP candidate in the 2010 Westminster election in Upper Bann where he achieved the highest vote of any Ulster Unionist Party candidate, with a vote of 10626.
