Alliance praises Sydenham Residents on Brighter Belfast Award

East Belfast Alliance MP Naomi Long and MLA Chris Lyttle have praised Palmerston Residents Association on being given Belfast City Council Brighter Belfast Environmental Awards 2010. Palmerston Residents Association received the Business & Community Partnership Award in conjunction with Translink for environmental improvements at Sydenham Train Station.

Naomi Long MP said: “This is a very valuable project as it helps bring business and community together in helping to transform this train station.

“I want to praise the imagination and drive of all those involved in this project. It really goes to show that when people and organisations work together they can achieve great things.”

Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle said: “I am very pleased that Palmerston Road Residents’ Association has received this well-deserved recognition for all their efforts, and in particular those of Chairman Terry Hoey. The group, working in partnership with Translink and other local business and community representatives have transformed Sydenham Train Station into a more safe and welcoming environment for local residents and visitors who use the station. Their work is an inspiration to all of us and their example should be followed by other communities who want to make a difference in their area.”
