Alliance Coleraine Councillors have praised the efforts of three rowers from the area, who secured medals at the Olympic Games in London.
Yesterday Richard and Peter Chambers claimed silver as part of the Great Britain rowing team, which included Rob Williams and Chris Bartley.
Today they were joined by Alan Campbell, who won bronze in the Olympic final of the men’s single sculls race.
Councillor Yvonne Boyle said: “This is a spectacular result that has come through many years of hard work. I want to say well done to Richard, Peter and Alan, who have secured a fantastic result for the people of Northern Ireland.
“The trio have brought great excitement to Coleraine and showcased our great community spirit. The whole town was behind them when they took to the water in their respective races.
“Richard, Peter and Alan have shown complete dedication to their sport and have inspired a whole new generation of rowers.
“They deserve to be remembered with the Olympic greats from Northern Ireland.”
