Alliance goes carbon neutral

The Alliance Party has become the first party in Northern Ireland to have carbon neutral election leaflets, the carbon emissions involved in their production have been completely offset.

General Secretary and North Down Candidate, Stephen Farry comments: “Most of the Alliance Party’s election leaflets have been printed as carbon neutral publications and carry the CarbonNeutral logo.

“Alliance is paying a small premium on its printing costs to cover the carbon emissions produced during the manufacturing and shipping of the paper used in the production of the leaflets. The remaining emissions associated with the printing of our election leaflets are covered by our printers GPS Colour Graphics. GPS offset the emissions by supporting a number of environmental projects in Jamaica, Chiapas in Mexico, and in the United Kingdom.

“GPS has been recognised as Irish Environmental Printer of the Year over the past two years.

“Alliance is conscious of the vast quantities of paper that are a necessary part of an effective election campaign. All parties should be aware of the environmental impact of their activities. We are grateful for the opportunity to give something back.”
