Cllr Gerardine Mulvenna said: “I feel very privileged and greatly honoured to have been elected Mayor of Larne.
“It will be a great time to be in office with the refurbishment of the town hall about to be complete and several other upcoming events.
“The recent celebrations in Larne for the Jubilee and the Olympic torch relay showed our excellent community spirit and I hope to build on what is clearly one of Larne’s our best asset.
“Throughout my time in Council I have seen the tireless voluntary work that is being done in the area and I hope to be able to help their work as well as give them some formal recognition for their efforts.
“There are many challenges ahead with the Review of Public Administration and trying to get the economy back on track. I hope to be able to work with everybody to help promote Larne as place to live as well as for businesses to invest in.
“As an Alliance representative I will of course represent the whole community and I hope to push forward movement on a shared future in Larne.”
