Alliance condemns Antrim pipe bomb attack

Alliance local MLA David Ford and Cllrs Neil Kelly and Oran Keenan has condemned those behind a pipe bomb attack on house in Antrim. It is believed that the house belongs to PUP member Ken Wilkinson. No one was injured in the attack which happened at 3am on Sunday.

David Ford MLA said: “These attacks must end, they are achieving nothing except to bring disruption and misery to the streets on Antrim. The local population is extremely worried where the next in this series of pipe bomb attacks is going to happen.

“I am only glad that no one was injured in this attack. This must have been a very traumatic experience for those inside the house at the time of the attack.”

Cllr Neil Kelly said: “The people behind these attacks are just a small minority who do not represent the views of the vast majority of Antrim who all oppose this violence on our streets. Everybody else has moved on from the troubles, they should do the same. “

Cllr Oran Keenan said: “If anybody has any information about this pipe bomb attack or any of the other previous attacks then they must contact the police. The people behind these attacks must be taken off our streets by the police and given severe punishments by the courts but it is only with the co-operation of the public will they be able to do that.

“This is the second time that his house has been attacked this year. No one deserves this, everybody should be able to live without fear of coming under attack in your own home.”
