Alliance backs legal bid to stop Crumlin asbestos store

Antrim Alliance Councillor, Alan Lawther, has backed a legal bid by a Crumlin residents’ group to stop the development of an asbestos store in the area. A judicial review which has come from a case brought by Crumlin Against Asbestos starts today, and local residents hope it will stop the planned development at Crosshill Quarry.

Cllr Alan Lawther said: “David Ford and I strongly support the Crumlin Against Asbestos group’s legal bid to stop the building of an asbestos store in the area.

“Everyone is aware of the grave danger to public health that asbestos presents. I hope that the courts apply common sense and stop this disgraceful development.

“The building of this store must be prevented because it will have massive negative implications for the whole area. It will affect not only Crumlin, but all of the South Antrim area.”
