Long attends Dublin reconciliation event

Alliance Deputy Leader Naomi Long has attended a Dublin ceremony focusing on reconciliation on the island of Ireland over the past century.

Rising to Reconciliation saw contributions from artists north and south, as they marked the journey of reconciliation from 1916 through to the Good Friday Agreement until the present day, through the media of poetry, music, drama and imagery.

East Belfast Assembly candidate Mrs Long, who was accompanied by Party Leader David Ford and South Belfast candidate Duncan Morrow, said the afternoon had been a moving experience.

“This was a perfect way of detailing our unique story through the eyes of some of the best artists on this island, with some powerful contributions from poets, past and present,” she said.

“Like the dinner at Belfast City Hall which I attended on Friday with a number of my colleagues, this was an event which allowed people to come together to reflect, learn and commit to moving forward towards a shared and reconciled society for all.”
