Alliance Antrim Councillor Neil Kelly has been appointed as the new Chair of the Alliance Party. Councillor Kelly has served as the Vice Chair for the previous year. Duncan Morrow has been appointed as the new Vice Chair at the Alliance Party AGM which was held in Lurgan.
Councillor Neil Kelly said: “I am delighted and proud to have been elected as the new Chair of the Alliance Party.
“I will be stepping forward as Chair to support our Party Leader David Ford and Deputy Leader Naomi Long as we continue to promote the principles of the Alliance Party. We are the only party who are willing to make the difficult decisions in the best interests of everyone in Northern Ireland, around division, the budget and education.
“Northern Ireland politics faces an important couple of years with the Westminster election in May and the Assembly election next year. I look forward to helping retain Alliance’s voice in Westminster with Naomi Long being re-elected by the people of East Belfast and continuing the strong Alliance representation in South Antrim.”
On being appointed Vice Chair, Duncan Morrow has said that it is clear that Alliance is the only party committed to the principles of a shared future.
Duncan Morrow said: “Recent decisions have shown the importance of maintaining a strong Alliance voice, whether putting forward key proposals on dealing with the past and the cost of division in the Stormont House talks or seeking to desegregate our teacher training infrastructure.
“It is clear that Alliance is the only party that prioritises the delivery of a shared future. The long term stability of our society will require the building of a united community and it is clear that the other parties are actively opposing this.”
