Chris Lyttle MLA said: “Using electronic devices and going online is now a normal part of a young person’s life. It can be a valuable tool for education and keeping in touch with friends and relatives. However, there are many dangers that exist online for young people.
“I welcome this report and would like to pay tribute to those who carried out the research. The recommendations, if properly implemented, could greatly improve awareness of e-safety.
“Teaching young people about the 4 C’s – content, contact, conduct and commercialism, is a quick and easy way to improve e-safety, however, there is also a lot of complicated and difficult work to be done to dramatically reduce online dangers.
“The report also highlighted the important role that parents and guardians can play in improving e-safety. I hope that the relevant Executive Departments will study this important document and seek to work together in a joined-up manner to implement the recommendations.”
